The Comfort Zone is an outreach ministry of the Reformed Church of Canajoharie that started more than 15 years ago as the brain child of a single individual. Month after month the doors opened and no one came, then a few and then more. About 5 years ago the ministry really took off and hasn't stopped. We serve approximately 100 families on the fourth Monday of the month. We open the doors at 6:15 p.m. for sign in and begin by 7 p.m. Each family is greeted and given a series of tickets - yellow, pink and blue. They are given the opportunity to share prayer requests. Once things settle down and the majority of guests are seated we share announcements, birthdays and the many prayer requests. We sing praise songs and hear a short message. Each family will receive a gift bag with paper products and person hygiene items. They will also receive diapers if they need them and then a larger item that can consist of laundry detergent or some cleaning supplies. There are no income guidelines or rules for our guests, just sign in and enjoy.
We partner with Liberty our local ARC for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Each month they come and pack up our gift bags with the paper products and personal hygiene items. Many of our guests have volunteered to help out on Comfort Zone night and also come during the month to sort items that we purchase from the Regional Food Bank. There are so many opportunities to help out in this ministry. If you are interested give our church a call.
If you are in need of these items just show up on the 4th Monday of the month and you will be greeted warmly and you will enjoy lots of fellowship.
